All Walks of Life: Sidewalk 2018 Opening Credits

2018 marked the 20th anniversary of the Sidewalk Film Festival, an annual event that showcases the work of more than 250 filmmakers and welcomes 15,000 film lovers to Birmingham. I have had the great pleasure of creating the Sidewalk opening credits on six different occasions. The reel serves to highlight the festival sponsors while also providing the audience a brief visual palate cleanser to prepare them for each film.

This year, I wanted to focus on the audience and how films bring people together. The phrase “all walks of life” and “bringing people out of the woodwork” really stuck in my mind, since Sidewalk brings together filmmakers and festival attendees from all over the globe. I wanted this piece to embrace the unique, gleefully assembled community that can only be found one weekend a year at Sidewalk.
